Turning Potential into Impact

People beginning their careers today have access to more information, technology, and AI-generated answers than ever before. That’s a significant advantage, but access to an answer isn’t the same as knowing what to do with it.

Success in insurance still depends on asking the right questions, exploring different perspectives, challenging assumptions, communicating effectively, and making informed decisions.

These capabilities develop through experience. And while there is no shortcut to experience, people can build the foundations that help them learn faster, contribute more effectively, and develop confidence earlier in their careers.

Digital Minds Ignite is a two-day, in-person programme that helps early-career insurance professionals build the strong professional foundations needed to turn potential into impact. Immersive, insurance-specific, and highly practical, it combines expert facilitation, peer learning, and hands-on application to develop capabilities that are immediately relevant in today’s workplace.

Who is Digital Minds Ignite for?

Ignite is for people at the beginning of their careers in insurance, including graduates, apprentices, school leavers and other early-career professionals, across roles and functions.

It is particularly relevant for insurance organisations that want to invest in early-career talent. No prior innovation or technology experience is required.

Nobody starts a career with judgement – it’s built one experience a time.

Digital Minds Ignite helps people learn more from each experience, from the start of their careers.

About the Programme

Over two days, delegates work through realistic workplace and insurance challenges. They practise critical thinking, curiosity, collaboration, and professional judgement in situations where the answer isn’t always obvious.

With expert facilitation, peer learning, and hands-on application, they learn to question assumptions, use AI effectively, engage with different perspectives, adapt to new information, and make a well-reasoned next move.

Duration and structure

Ignite is a two-day, in-person programme.

Cohort size

Up to a maximum of 22 delegates from a variety of insurance organisations bring different experiences, roles, and perspectives into the room. This creates a safe environment for delegates to encounter different viewpoints and see that the same situation can be understood and approached in different ways.

Facilitation

Ignite is led by experienced EDII facilitators with deep insurance industry expertise. They challenge delegates’ thinking, introduce practical approaches, create opportunities to experiment, and use questioning and feedback to help delegates examine how they reached their conclusions.

Programme content

A central scenario runs across both days – one that shifts as new information arrives and where the right answer isn’t obvious. Day 1 is about finding out what’s really going on; Day 2 is about deciding what to do.

Shorter exercises run concurrently with the scenario, giving delegates the opportunity to build each of the five specific behaviours of the Digital Mindset that Ignite focuses on.

AI is part of the Ignite environment

Delegates explore where AI can add value, where outputs need to be questioned and verified, and how technology can support – but never replace – professional judgement.

EDII tools and systems

Delegates use EDII tools to help them question, explore, make sense of what they discover, and communicate their thinking clearly. For Ignite, this includes PROBE, the Discovery System, and the Statement System – alongside other practical approaches selected specifically for the programme.

Part of Your Wider Early Careers Development Strategy

Complementary, not competing

Digital Minds Ignite works alongside your organisation’s existing technical and early career development programmes.

While those programmes build knowledge and understanding, Ignite focuses on the capabilities that turn learning into impact. It helps early career professionals develop the mindset, capabilities, and practical foundations needed to contribute effectively learn from experience, and progress faster throughout their careers.

Designed for immediate impact

Delegates develop the mindsets, capabilities, and practical tools required to make an immediate impact in the workplace.

The approaches and tools introduced throughout the programme can be put into practice straight away and strengthened over the course of delegates’ careers.

Learning Outcomes

The value of Ignite isn’t just what delegates can replicate at the end of the programme. It’s what they start doing differently when they return to work in their insurance organisations.

The aim: people who think before they act, ask better questions, seek out what they need, and take greater ownership of what they do next.

Following Ignite, delegates will be better equipped to:

Pause and clarify before starting a task.

Ask more thoughtful and relevant questions.

Seek information and context rather than wait for it to be provided.

Question information – including AI-generated outputs – rather than automatically accepting it as correct.

Explain the reasoning behind their thinking and recommendations.

Seek different perspectives and involve other people earlier.

Use what they learn to adapt and improve.

Test ideas and seek feedback before over-investing in an answer.

What delegates bring back to work

We know that two days can start good habits, but work is where behaviours are formed.

To support continued development of the new behaviours, every delegate leaves with a personal action plan. EDII also provides a briefing for sponsors and managers: what the programme covered, what to expect, and how to share and reinforce it.

Embedding the Digital Mindset™ in Early-Career Talent

Ignite draws on EDII’s Digital Mindset™ – the behaviours that help people think, learn, collaborate and respond effectively when information, technology and AI are everywhere – adapted for the start of a career in insurance.

Ignite is built around five of these seven behaviours. But rather than simply talking about them, delegates gain opportunities to practise the behaviours through realistic challenges, feedback, and reflection throughout the two days.

The Beginning of the Digital Minds™ Pathway

The EDII Digital Mindset™ is the shared foundation for all Digital Minds programmes. Ignite, Embed, and Evolve all build on this foundation, tailoring its application to different audiences and development needs.
