Hélène Stanway to join EDII as Non-Executive Director

London, UK, 18 January 2022 – EDII, an innovation, education and development company for regulated markets, has announced the appointment of Hélène Stanway as Non-Executive Director to its Board, effective 06 January, 2022.

Ms Stanway has more than 25 years’ experience in the market covering reinsurance, underwriting and data operations, as well as market innovation and emerging technologies. She most recently served as Market Engagement and Adoption Lead for Data at Lloyd’s of London.

During her career, Ms Stanway has held a number of senior roles in technology and innovation. Between 2016 and 2020, she served in senior positions at AXA XL, including Vice President of Global Head of Technology Innovation, and Co-Founder of Cube, the world’s first risk innovation incubator.

I am delighted to join EDII as a Non-Executive Director,” said Ms Stanway. “I have supported EDII’s work since its inception, and I hope that my market perspective and knowledge of digital techniques and capabilities will help them grow even further.

“I’m a big supporter of future-focussed initiatives, and EDII Chief Executive Caroline Bedford has created a uniquely valuable approach focussed on upskilling and reskilling current business practitioners, as well as for the next generation of entrants. My aim will be to support the EDII team as it evolves into a technologically-advanced front-runner in the sector, as well as developing methods that will advance the innovation capabilities of the market as a whole.”

I am thrilled to welcome Hélène onto the board at EDII,” said Ms Bedford. “Since we launched our first innovation programme, Digital Minds in 2017, we’ve had Hélène with us as a Coaching Director. Having someone of Hélène’s calibre and expertise on the board is a major step for EDII in our continued growth and development. With innovation and technology such an integral part of the industry’s existing hybrid work environment, Hélène’s deep insight and delivery experience will be an invaluable asset to EDII’s future expansion.

Ms Stanway has also recently been appointed Advisory Director of r10 Consulting, a sponsor and long-term supporter of EDII and its Digital Minds programme. r10 is a management consultancy focused on helping the global insurance market embrace change through business and technology transformation.

In 2021, Ms Stanway was included in Insurance Business’ Elite Women in Insurance list. In 2019, she was named Technology Champion of the Year in Insurance Times’ Technology & Innovation Awards. Before joining AXA XL in 2016, Ms Stanway served as Chief of Staff to the Chief Operations Officer at XL Catlin, having served as Global Head of Operations – Specialty from 2011 to 2015, and as co-lead for the XL Catlin integration for Day 1 Critical Underwriting Operations in 2015.
